Now that Batman V Superman is being seen, we’re getting a better idea of where the movie sits in the grand scheme of the DC Cinematic Universe.

Speaking to Comicbook, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns said they’re delighted to have the movie going out and it’s the first real stepping stone into a bigger universe:  “We’re really excited about the movie. To me, it’s the first DC Universe movie because we see Batman and Superman finally meet and…some other stuff. So I’m really excited for people to see it.”

Johnsis a long-time writer at DC and has pretty much covered the whole universe of characters and his excitement isn’t just as the creative officer: “For all the fans who have read these stories, to see the characters up there for the first time together to me is magic. The fact that these movies feel like they’re based on the comics more than anything else, that’s what I’m excited about. We’ve got Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League obviously. It’s going to be a good run.”

So think of Man of Steel as the prologue and Batman V Superman as the first chapter.

In related news, Gotham’s young Bruce Wayne, actor David Mazouz was asked by Variety at the BvS premiere who would win, Justice League or The Avengers. Check out his answer below:

Following his titanic struggle against General Zod, Metropolis has been razed to the ground and Superman is the most controversial figure in the world. While for many he is still an emblem of hope, a growing number of people consider him a threat to humanity, seeking justice for the chaos he has brought to Earth. As far as Bruce Wayne is concerned, Superman is clearly a danger to society. He fears for the future of the world with such a reckless power left ungoverned, and so he dons his mask and cape to right Superman’s wrongs. The rivalry between them is furious, fuelled by bitterness and vengeance, and nothing can dissuade them from waging this war. However, a dark new threat arises in the form of a third man: one who has a power greater than either of them to endanger the world and cause total destruction. The superhero stand-off that the world has been waiting for is finally arriving in cinemas, with an all-star cast bringing to life the characters we all love.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
