Once more with feeling as Dune and Dune Part Two director Denis Villeneuve talks the third and his final Dune Movie, Messiah.
Villeneuve has confirmed that the third movie is currently being written and that he will be leaving Arrakis once he’s done the third movie… although he’s not calling it a trilogy.
“Listen, if Dune: Messiah happens, it will have been many years for me on Arrakis, and I would love to do something else,” said Villeneuve.
“I think that it would be a good idea for me to make sure that, in Messiah, there are the seeds in the project if someone wants to do something else afterwards, because they are beautiful books. They are more difficult to adapt. They become more and more esoteric.”
None of this is new news, however, as Villeneuve already confirmed his role in the third movie and how it would be his last outing and would leave the door open for other directors to step in, down the line, back in February after Dune Part II’s release, saying: “Those books are much more wild and maybe more difficult to adapt, but I’ll be there to help.”
So, once more to Arrakis with Villeneuve? Count us in…
