Details of Gina Carano’s return movie, White Knuckle, revealed

August 15th, 2021 by Marc Comments

The unceremonious firing of Gina Carano from The Mandalorian by Disney six months ago was by no means a small occurrence.

It divided the fandom in many ways, bringing often ugly real-world politics into the entertainment arena and resulting in endless she was right/she was wrong arguments.

And, while we’re not going to get into it, what we will say is we like Carano and we loved her as Cara Dune in the hit Star Wars series, so we will miss her, no matter what the real world happenings were. There are many celebrities out there who I disagree with and outright dislike but still enjoy their art… I try to always separate the art from the artist. I know this isn’t something everyone agrees with but you cannot please all the people all the time, right?

Anyway.

After she was fired, Carano sat down for an interview with fellow divisive figure Ben Shapiro on his Daily Wire Show and it was revealed that Shapiro was going to work with Carano – he has been trying to get into the movie business for a while now – and get her next movie off the ground. Previously The Daily Wire had released the movie Run, Hide, Fight which I thought was utterly superb, so I’m looking forward to seeing what this new project will mean.

The movie will be written by screenwriter Eric Red, who penned The Hitcher and Katherine Bigelow’s iconic vampire movie Near Dark, and it will be based on his own novel White Knuckle “a story about a long-haul truck-driver who crosses the country murdering women. Carano will star as the one woman who managed to escape him. Traumatised, but haunted by the thought of his future victims, she hires another trucker to help her track him down and end his killing spree.”

The movie will star and be produced by Carano.

“This has been a year full of so many changes and I am excited to embrace this chapter of my life with The Daily Wire in starting production on our first film,” Carano said in a statement.

“I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take this first big step into living my dream and continuing the quest of telling stories and opening up opportunities for other artists from every walk of life.”

At the time of her firing, Carano said of the new deal: “I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

Casting for White Knuckle is already started as are negotiations with a director for the project which it hoping to get a 2022 release.

So there you have it, Carano fights on and is now getting ready to return to the screen in a big way. What say you all? Are you looking forward to her return or are you one of the ones who wishes she’d stayed canceled? Let me know all your thoughts, gang…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
