Have some new details been leaked about one of the major players in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story?

Well it seems that Forest Whitaker’s character, of whom we’ve known nothing so far, may have had a very rough journey by the time we meet him in the new movie…

Making Star Wars are reporting that his appearance in the movie will continue the Star Wars history of losing limbs: “It appears he has one leg and uses a cane as a crutch to walk,” the site’s sources reveal. “Earlier reports made it seem like he might have one leg but the clarification on the topic is a ‘robot leg.'”

“He appears to be a veteran of some battles, but it isn’t clear if he lost his leg fighting in The Clone Wars or against the Empire. Based on a differentiated code name from the rest of the rebels in the movie, it appears he is likely good but maybe a bounty hunter affiliated type.”

Oh, and he might wear a cape…

We love the idea that his character will be so visually striking and scarred physically and emotionally. And we love Whitaker, so we can’t wait to see him in action. But which side will be be on? Aside from Lando Calrissian, Cloaks aren’t usually a good thing in Star Wars.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to open in UK and US cinemas on December 16, 2016.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
