Look, I admit it… I was too old for the whole Pokemon thing although at the time my kid brother was a big fan and now my son is totally engulfed in the world, but I was aware of the ins and outs of it all.

So, while it’s never been something I’ve been a big fan of, the trailer for Detective Pikachu really clicked with me… and now I’m worried that, on top of the million other things I obsess over, Pokemon may become on of my many ‘things’.

But I degress…

It looks like Warners are already developing a sequel to Detective Pikachu which will focus on… Mewtwo

SPOILER (highlight to read) Mewtwo is rumoured to be the villain of Detective Pikachu SPOILER END

Honestly, I’m not surprised… tell me everything about Detective Pikachu doesn’t scream ‘shared universe’? Honestly, it’s in the make-up of the property, surely?

Anyway, that’s all we have for now… what say you all? Are you gonna catch ’em all? Let us know.

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself.

Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is set to release in theaters on Friday, May 10th, 2019.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
