Did Tyrese Gibson just hint that he’s in the running for Green Lantern? UPDATED: He continues to share Green Lantern fan art…

January 24th, 2015 by Marc Comments

Apparently Tyrese Gibson was attached to the role of John Stewart, Green Lantern, when the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie was in production. We have to be honest, this is the first we heard of it…

Now, however, Gibson himself has shared a piece of fan art on his instagram page (below) and it’s started up a new internet meltdown that Gibson has just said he’s in the Justice League movie as Stewart.

We don’t think this is the case; that said, we like The Fast & Furious star and we’re certainly not be totally against him in the role, but he isn’t how we’d imagine Stewart.

He wrote “Rumour has it” with the art.

We’ll have to wait and see, but we reckon this is more a case of him throwing his hat in the ring…

The Justice League movie lands in 2017 – but so far there’s no plans for Lantern to be in it. That we know of.

Rumor has it that.

UPDATE: It looks like Gibson is having fun sharing fan art and either he knows something we don’t or he’s just pushing for the role. Check out his Instagram page for more.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
