Does Doomsday play a big part in the second half of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice?

Those Doomsday rumours just will not go away, will they?

There have been reports that Superman’s enemy Doomsday would be making an appearance in Batman V Superman for a while now – some have suggested that he will be created by Lex Luthor using DNA from the body of Zod who died in Man of Steel after Superman broke his neck – you may have heard about it, some fans like to mention it from time-to-time.

But a new report from Devin Faraci over at Badass Digest suggests it’s more than a cameo or set up for the next movie (we at FTN favoured the idea that Doomsday would appear just before the credits rolled, setting up the Justice League movie). Claiming that he has read the script, and talking about the silly rumour earlier this week that Batman V Superman would be split in two movies after the image below appeared online, he says: “There’s so much action in the second half [of the film] as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman battle Doomsday in Metropolis and Gotham that you’d end up with two very, very lopsided movies [if they were cut in half]….

“There’s one more thing about this, and it could be a small spoiler: Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg, said he only had scenes with Ben Affleck. I’m pretty sure Cyborg is only in this movie as a cameo, and that’s at the very, very end as Batman assembles the Justice League.”

It does seem weird to have Doomsday appear so soon in the series as, well spoiler alert, he kills Superman in the comics and, frankly, to have him appear and NOT kill Superman would seem to defeat the point of the character. As weak as Bane’s character was in The Dark Knight Rises, at least he (almost) broke Batman’s back.

On the flip side of this, to have Superman killed this early in the movies seems slightly premature (yes, we know he comes back, but still).

This worries us slightly but we’re still excited to see the movie… after all, we won’t really know what’s happening until we’re sitting in the cinema next March.
