While Trolls opens this week, the directors Walt Dohrn and Mike Mitchell, from Dreamworks, have been doing the press circuit and talking about other projects in the works…

And one in particular – not Shrek 5, that will get a post later – caught our attention: A Sky High sequel.

‘What’s Sky High?’, we hear you young ‘uns ask, well: “Set in an era where superheroes are commonly known and accepted, young William Stronghold, the son of the Commander and Jetstream, tries to find a balance between being a normal teenager and an extraordinary being.”

It features a school where super-powered students learn to be heroes (and villains) and star Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston – and, fact fans, The Flash’s Danielle Panabaker –  and, while not a great outing, it’s got fun ideas throughout and, given how Hollywood (and the world) are superhero mad right now, we aren’t surprised this is possibly being resurrected.

Mitchell said: “We’re working on a sequel to Sky High. We’ll see how that goes.”

Now it’s far from confirmation and there’s no cast or plot even almost known yet but it’s definitely one to file under ‘curious and exciting.’

Thoughts on this one, superfriends?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
