Dredd Producer says sequel ‘is happening’ but it may not be exactly what you think

February 10th, 2017 by Marc Comments

If there’s one campaign we were behind (well, aside from #BringBackConstantine) it was to get a Dredd sequel.

The 2012 movie was arguably one of the most accurate portrayal of comic character ever created which, through abysmal marketing was doomed to underperform at the box office.

However, it soon became a massive hit on home release, with a massive following and endless calls, not just from the fans, but the star took Karl Urban, to get a sequel made.

However, despite many exciting prospects – Netflix, Amazon, TV shows, movies – it still seems stuck in limbo.

However, now the movie’s producer, Adi Shankar, has made it clear that the sequel is still very much on his mind and he DOES believe it will happen… although not quite how we expect:

“If anyone is still wondering, there’s no update on a Dredd sequel, but I’m gonna make it happen at some point. It may not be live-action, but it’s going to happen at some point. There will be more Judge Dredd at some point.”

So, what say you all? Would a Dredd sequel be a welcome prospect if it was animated?

We say that animation now, when at its best, easily rivals anything in the live action arena, so yes, we would be more than happy to watch an animated Dredd 2… but we still wish we could see the cast back in the suits.

Let us know your thoughts, guys.
