Dwayne Johnson doubts he’s in Fast & Furious 9 AND Hobbs and Shaw trailer drops tomorrow!

It’s a real good news/bad news sort of day today, isn’t it?

Firstly, the good news… we’re getting the first trailer for Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw tomorrow as revealed by the official Twitter along with a new loog at Idris Elba as the villain of the piece, Brixton:

Next up, the bad news…

The Rock AKA Dwayne Johnson, doesn’t believe he’s in Fast & Furious 9, although he things he will be back at a future point.

We all know that when the Hobbs and Shaw spinoff was announced things got a little heated between Johnson and star Vin Diesel (here) but we also figured the franchise would now still include Johnson’s Hobbs, but it seems not.

With the ninth movie set to begin filming, the actor has said to MTV that he has not been approached to return: “The plan has always been for the Fast and Furious universe to grow and expand. As of now, we’re not in Fast 9 because they’re getting ready to start shooting.

“But who knows with Fast 10 and down the road, you never know. Because look, at the end of the day, the truth is, there’s unfinished business between Hobbs and Dom. It’s unfinished.”

While this is disappointing, we don’t believe it will hurt the ninth movie in the series (tenth is you include Hobbs and Shaw which comes out in July this year, before Fast 9) as the series clearly is more than just built around any one actor.

But we do still want to see Hobbs and Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto meet again.

Anyway, we do realise that Johnson’s comment above does make it clear that he is not in the movie ‘as of yet’ and he does still feel he’ll return to the core franchise at some stage in the future.

Do you still want to see Fast 9 without Johnson?

Let us know…

Hobbs and Shaw arrives in theaters on July 26.
