One of our favourite movies of 2017 was Baby Driver from writer/director Edgar Wright which was a imaginative, fast-paced and fun as we hoped from the man responsible for Scott Pilgrim and the Cornetto Trilogy.
And we’ve known for a while, in fact as soon as the first movie came out (here) that he planned on making a sequel when he got around to it and then, almost a year to the day (here), we learned that the first draft of his script was finished.
And now, in a new interview with Variety, Wright says: “It’s written.” Plain and simple.
He then goes on: “I’ve actually written three drafts of it.. It’s funny, you get fans on social media saying, ‘What’s happening to blah blah,’ and you know there’s a global pandemic, right?… Some things are beyond even me.”
According to the rumour mill, the movie will see a new female lead acting as a foil to original movie star Lily James’ Debora and will see Ansel Mount return as Baby with Jon Bernthal and CJ Jones coming back too.
The movie was originally set to go into production late last year but, well, we all know what happened.
In the meantime, we’re all sitting waiting for Wright’s new movie Last Night In Soho which has been pushed back again to October 22nd from its original April slot.
I’m a massive fan of Wright and we all here at FTN HQ loved Baby Driver, so we’re already revving our engines to get to opening night on this one.
What about you all?
