I’ll be honest; I have never been a big fan of the Fast and Furious franchise. It has been running on for many years, with a progressively increasing fanbase, but I have never really counted myself among them. The films are hardly terrible, and I can understand why people like them, but they have never done anything to truly wrap me up in their characters. With all of that being said, I am probably the last person to ask about opinions on a Fast and Furious spin-off.
For a while now, it has been confirmed that Eva Green would be returning to the franchise in Fast and Furious 8. However, according to an unnamed source: “Mendes is being brought back because both Vin Diesel and director F. Gary Gray want to test how she does with audiences as they’re thinking of giving her character, Monica Fuentes, a spinoff film”.
For those who are unaware, Eva Green’s character was introduced in 2 Fast, 2 Furious, and has been seen once more in the fifth movie. All in all, I have heard of worse characters to build spin-offs around, so this could work. I am sure fans of the franchise will be ecstatic about this news, and I am happy for them, but I have no real opinions on it.
