
In addition to the upcoming animated series, Deadline.com reports that Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation are teaming up further to expand the Ghostbusters universe with an animated feature film, reports our good friend Jason over at Ghostbusters News.
First unveiled on Ghostbusters Day 2022, Ghostbusters: Afterlife director Jason Reitman and Frozen Empire director Gil Kenan shared initial details about the project. At the time, the filmmaking duo would tease that the film would introduce an “all-new team” and provide “a whole new take” on Ghostbusters.

While updates have been sparse since the initial announcement, the new report confirms that the project will indeed be a collaboration between Sony and Netflix. Additionally, it was revealed that Kris Pearn has been chosen to direct.
If the original Ghostbusters Day vision remains intact, fans can expect the animated series and feature to delve deeper into the franchise’s core canon.
With Reitman and Kenan providing their creative expertise—and the limitless possibilities of animation—these projects are poised to expand the Ghostbusters universe in new and imaginative ways.
Rounding back to Pearn, the director has a history with both Netflix and Sony Animation, including Sony’s Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 and Netflix’s The Willoughbys.
