We have already had images and leaks from The Dark Tower, but this is our first peek at Matthew McConaughey as the villain of the piece… Randall Flagg, the Walkin’ Dude himself.

Flagg goes by many names in the books including Merlyn and Walter, but he’s a very cool, laid back, almost rock star character with an evil, hate driven and supernatural darkness bubbling just below the surface… all capped off with a cool Southern drawl.

We reckon the scene being filmed currently in New York will see Flagg as Walter O’Dim meeting Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) for the first, fateful time… but we’re not totally sure.

So yeah, the image above, shared by the Stephen King Writer FB page, is pretty much on the money… like a cross between the Terminator and Johnny cash.

Let us know what you think of McConaughey in the image…

The Dark Tower is set to be directed by Nikolaj Arcel with a February 17th, 2017 release and along with McConaughey is Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, The Gunslinger, Abbey Lee as Tirana and Fran Kranz as Pimli. The film also features Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick and Claudia Kiim .

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
