We’re a little over a year away from the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse – remember when we thought it was coming in March 2024? Ah, good times – and we have our first look at new images (above and below), plus some details on what’s next and an official synopsis.

The third movie in the Spider-Verse has been a long time coming, but based on how great the first two were, I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.

While Sony has confirmed that this is the last movie in Miles Morales’ story, they have also teased that the upcoming Spider-Noir series isn’t the last of the wider Spider-Verse we’ll see, with a Spider-Punk, Spider-Woman, and an R-rated animated symbiote movie all currently in development.

It looks like Kraven the Hunter will be the end of Sony’s Marvel-adjacent cinematic universe

It’s wild that for a studio that mishandled Spider-Man’s spinoffs – Morbius, Kraven, etc. – so poorly, they’re putting out the Spider-Verse movies and they’re peak superhero fare.

Hunted by Miguel O’Hara’s Spider Society and betrayed by his friends, Miles finds himself in the darkest corners of the Spider-Verse in search of a way home.

That his family has been not only fractured but endangered by his calling, it’s a race against the clock for Miles to travel across the wildest reaches of time and space to fight for and reunite everything he holds most dear.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse swings into cinemas on June 18th, 2027.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
