I’m not going to lie, the whole Power Rangers thing passed me by… I had Star Wars, TMNT, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Transformers and other things and Power Rangers just never got enough of my attention.

However, one thing I did know and really liked was the Zord.

See him up there? He’s pretty bad-ass… even when he was clearly a man in a suit walking through cardboard cities.

And, with the new movie set for release next March, everyone has been pacing the floors to see what the new Zord will look like.

And, as is becoming a tradition now, we just found out thanks to the movie’s toy line (continues after pic):

Yes, that image was posted on the movie’s official Instagram (below) with the following: “Go Go Power Rangers! The Interactive #PowerRangersMovie Megazord features expandable wings, battle sounds, dynamic LED effects & more! Includes all five 2” Rangers. Stay tuned for pre-sale dates on rangernation.com!”

That is one sleek looking Zord… in fact it looks like, em, ironically, a man in a suit. The classic Zords look like out-of-date clunky ancestors of this guy and maybe that’s the idea but I must say, not in a million years did I imagine it would look like this.

And from the reaction we’re seeing online so far, the fans feel the same.

What about you? What do you think?

SABAN’S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).

The film is being directed by Dean Israelite and was written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

Power Rangers will hit theaters on March 24th, 2017.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
