While we have long given up on our dream of a sequel to The Big Lebowski, we needn’t fully despair.
We’ve known for a while (here) that there was a spin-off in the works based on the character Jesus Quintana played by John Turturro in the Coen brothers’ classic movie and now we have not only a first look (above), but a synopsis too.
The movie will be called Going Places and will be directed by Turturro himself and will also star Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou and Susan Sarandon, so the talent is all there but can they capture the magic of Joel and Ethan Coen’s arguable beast movie? Well, that’s a helluva ask so we’ll settle for something worthy of the name.
Anyway, here’s the synopsis and we’ll keep you posted as and when news breaks.
John Turturro plays Jesus Quintana in GOING PLACES, a film about a trio of misfits whose irreverent, sexually charged dynamic evolves into a surprising love story as their spontaneous and flippant attitude towards the past or future backfires time and again, even as they inadvertently perform good deeds. When they make enemies with a gun-toting hairdresser, their journey becomes one of constant escape from the law, from society and from the hairdresser, all while the bonds of their outsider family strengthen.
