FIRST LOOK: Samuel L Jackson is back as Mr Glass in Unbreakable sequel, Glass

November 8th, 2017 by Marc Comments

We’ve been following the closing part of the M Night Shyamalan superhero trilogy, Glass, for a while now (here).

The movie will act as a sequel to both Unbreakable and Split, which both seemed like individual movies but came together at the climax of Split in a way that had fans jumping with excitement.

Glass is a reference to Elijah Price AKA Mr Glass, the villain played by Samuel L Jackson in Unbreakable, and now, finally, we have the first look at Jackson back on set, filming the third in the Unbreakable trilogy… and honestly, we’ve got goosbumps!

Jackson looks the part in the image and we can’t wait to see what Shyamalan and co have in mind because, frankly, the first two movies have been awesome and we look forward to it all coming together.

From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

This riveting culmination of his worldwide blockbusters will be produced by Shyamalan and Jason Blum, who also produced the writer/director’s previous two films for Universal. They produce again with Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock, and Steven Schneider, who will executive produce.

If you’re expecting an expanded universe, guess again, as “Glass” will be a “culmination” of the trilogy. However, this will no doubt bring more people to discover “Unbreakable,” which was seen as a box-office disappointment back in 2000. It’s a movie that never got its due, but will now be re-evaluated thanks to the roaring success of “Split.”

“Glass” opens on January 19, 2019

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
