Well it seems that the Fletch remake may finally have found a new home.
The movie, a remake of the the classic 1985 Chevy chase comedy/thriller, has been sitting at Universal, then Warners for years with actors like scrubs’ Zach Braff attached and then Kevin Smith famously tried to get it restarted with Jason Lee in the lead role (this had us all so excited at the time) but everything fell through, in no small part because of Chevy Chase being very awkward – read that all here – but now it seems like it may actually happen.
Horrible Bosses and We’re the Millers star Jason Sudeikis is still attached (he’s been in the loop for a while now) and the movie, based on Gregory McDonald’s first Fletch tale, Fletch Won, has found a new home at Relativity Studios after being let go by Warner Bros.
No director is in the frame at the minute, but as fans of Chase, Fletch (books and movies) and Sudeikis, we really hope this happens and can be a franchise.
Though Jason Lee was born for the role. Ah, well…
