From Avenger to… talking animals?! Robert Downey Jr signs up to Dr Doolittle movie

March 20th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well we didn’t expect this, really…

While Robert Downey Jr is the face of the MCU, it looks like he’s setting out on a new adventure as a man who can speak to animals in The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle over at Universal.

Yes, the story is set for another retelling, this time written by Tom Shepard and directed by Stephen Gaghan and this time promises to be a faithful adaptation of Hugh Lofting’s original 1920s story.

Downey Jnr will follow in the footsteps of Rex Harrison who played the character in 1967 and Eddie Murphy who played him twice in 1998 and 2001. Big shoes and all that.

Does this mean the end of Tony Stark? Not necessarily – it could just mean he wants to try something new… we all know this could be a franchise in the making.

Thoughts? Let us know…

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
