Gal Gadot confident Wonder Woman 3 is happening… but is she right?

August 11th, 2023 by Marc Comments

Man, I’m very excited for the next chapter of the DC universe on the big – and small – screen but we really need a clear idea from James Gunn and Peter Safran about what that’ll look like and who, of anyone, is coming back

Why? I hear you ask, well, in June, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot seemed confident a third Wonder Woman, with her as the star, was looking at the very least, possible, saying: “Things are being worked behind the scenes and once the right moment arrives, you’ll know about it.”

Indeed, a few days ago, in a new interview, the actress was confident that she and new heads of DC at Warners, Gunn and Safran, were going to develop a third movie:  “It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”

Just days later, the actress repeated the same news and added some more detail, saying:  “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman – you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

Wonder Woman 3 canned? Cavill gone? Affleck gone? Momoa no longer Aquaman but another DC character? What is happening at DC/WB?!

However, now it seems that a third Wonder Woman, at least with Gadot as the lead, is not likely.

Variety reports that despite Gadot’s words, there is no Wonder Woman 3 happening at Warners/DC and it’s still likely that, like Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, her days as the third pillar of DC’s triumvirate are over.

Nothing was ever promised to Gadot regarding “Wonder Woman 3,” nor was there any definitive discussion of Gadot’s Wonder Woman continuing with the new DC Universe,’ the trade reports.

Oof!

Did Gunn and Safran promise Gadot and then double back? Or did the actress misinterpret something that was said? As of now, it’s hard to know but it looks that, with the Paradise Lost series set to be a story of Wonder Woman’s home before her birth, it’s possible there’s no plans to have the heroine back in the DCU just yet.

Though I’m hearing that Fast X and Suicide Squad star Daniela Melchior, left, is set to take over the role… but you didn’t hear that here.

So what do you think? Is Gadot coming back or is Gunn set to completely reboot the Justice League as originally imagined by Zack Snyder? Only time will tell…
