Get ready for the new daily show

Gibson, Glover and Donner all ready to make Lethal Weapon 5

Oh, please, please, please make this happen.

With The Matrix and Bad Boys both making a return to our screens, it looks like another action movie institution is to get revisited… Lethal Weapon.

And no, we don’t mean the ‘ok’ TV show that came out recently, we mean the genuine ‘I’m too old for this sh@#t’ classic.

In a new interview (below) producer Dan Lin has said that they have plans for a final Lethal Weapon and that stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover and director Richard Donner are all on board if it should happen: “We’re trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie. And Dick Donner’s coming back,” he says.

“The original cast is coming back. And it’s just amazing. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel and Danny are ready to go, so it’s about the script.”

Now, before we imagine a return to the golden age of action movies, we have to remember that the legend Danny Glover is 73 (Gibson is 64) and, while he was wonderful in Jumaji: The Next Level in December, we doubt he’d be up for a physical role. And Richard Donner is almost 90! Although, it’s not stopping Clint Eastwood…

But, my point is that this movie will likely be a very different adventure with these heroes in the twilight of their careers and likely having to come out of retirement one last time.

I see a personal, touching and moving sendoff. If it happens. And while I’m totally in, I’m not sure I’m willing to see more of my childhood idols retire. Or worse.

Thoughts? I want to hear them.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
