OK, hands up if you liked the first Charlie’s Angels movie with Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz… it’s ok, I did too, you’ll not be judged.

Yeah, the second one was dire…. so dire that it looks like Sony are keen to resurrect the franchise but with a new cast. We’re not sure if this is a full reboot or a soft reboot with new Angels, much like the old TV series would do, where the cast would periodically change but what we do know is that Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks is in talks at Sony to helm it.

We weren’t fans of Pitch Perfect 2, but we certainly have a soft spot for Banks, so this could be a fun direction for the Angels.

With Pitch Perfect having taken ten times its budget, Banks is a big directing  deal, so she’d be a high-profile director for the movie. Would it be presumptuous to assume that the movie will be a comedy/adventure? We think it’ll be played for giggles, but we could be wrong, the concept of three beautiful ‘agents’ who work for a mysterious billionaire and save the world, could be written to fit many tones.

What we do know is this, if it’s a soft reboot, we want Bill Murray back as Bosely.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
