Grant Gustin’s Flash set for The Flash movie cameo?

June 15th, 2021 by Marc Comments

It’s all about the upcoming Flash movies these days, isn’t it?

From the glimse at Ezra Miller’s new suit (here) to the tease of Michael Keaton’s return as Batman (here), it’s all pretty exciting and now we have a new piece of exciting, well, fun news.

So, remember in The CW’s massive – but underwhelming – Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover we saw Miller’s Flash cameo, meeting Grant Gustin’s TV Barry Allen? Well, it seems the favour is being repaid.

A new report has it that Gustin’s Flash will appear in Andy Muschietti’s movie as the Arrowverse’s version of the character.

At DC FAndome last September Muschietti teased the movie and the Multiverse it will be opening up: “But what I will tell you is that it’s a ride. It’s going to be fun and exciting and there are a lot of DC characters in it. Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines.”

Now, we know Keaton will return as the Batman we first met in Batman ’89 along with Ben Affleck’s Batman who will also be appearing, but, like the Crisis on Infinite Earths event, it seems there’s going to be many exciting tentacles reaching into other multiverses.

This makes perfect sense, as we have hoped ever since Crisis aired that we would see the events from Miller’s Flash’s POV and it looks like we will see the payoff when the movie arrives in November next year.

However, there is one thing that may need to be addressed if Gustin does appear; in the scene (below) Miller’s Flash refers to Cyborg as if he’s nearby and the two are working together (before he slipped into an alternate reality) but we think it’s safe to say that Ray Fisher is unlikely to appear in the DCEU again anytime soon (no, we’re not getting into it but google is your friend).

However it turns out, we hope we see this scene at the very least made part of the movie as it would be a fun bit of connectivity to the Arrowverse that will remind the movie fans that the DC universe is much more vast than what’s in the cinemas.

What say you all? Would you like to see Gustin appear? Let me know your thoughts, gang.

The Flash is set for release on November 4th, 2022.
