Guardians of the Galaxy cast all sign a letter supporting fired James Gunn

July 30th, 2018 by Marc Comments

Well, it’s been over a week since James Gunn, writer and director of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, was fired from Disney over vulgar tweets he put out ten years ago – and yes, we know he apologised for them.

Now, it’s a thorny subject and a difficult one to get our heads around… should he have been fired? Yes, but no? Were the tweets THAT bad? Yes, but… no? but it seems that the cast of the Guardians movies, who arguably know Gunn best as a film-maker have come out to defend the man.

In a letter penned by Chris Pratt – Star-lord/Peter Quill in the MCU – and signed by all the cast, the stars make it clear that while the tweets cannot be defended, they stand by him.

We’ve embedded the letter below, do you think Pratt was right to defend him? What do you think this means for the future of the franchise?

Let us know your thoughts…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
