It looks like we must start getting ready to say goodbye to some much-loved characters in the MCU as we prepare for the, no doubt, world changing events of Avengers: Endgame.
And it seems Pepper Potts, AKA actress Gwyneth Paltrow, is the first to come out and say goodbye.
The actress says she is retiring Pepper after this year’s event movie: “I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit [she’s 46] and all that at this point.
“I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friend with [‘Iron Man’ director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first ‘Iron Man’ and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”
That said, she’s not ruling out brief cameos down the line: “Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,’ I will always be there if they need me.”
We’re trying to not read between the lines here but could this mean – as some suspect – Tony Stark will be killed off in the movie, leaving no room for Pepper in the story moving forward? Or perhaps will they both get to walk off into the sunset of a happy ending with a family on the way?
We’ll all know come April 24th.
