While we’ve sort of known for a while that Harrison Ford would be returning to the character of Rick Deckard in Blade Runner 2, it’s good to hear it confirmed. Oh and it has a director in place too – remember Ridley Scott wasn’t doing it (even though he really wanted to)? Well, it’s not him, sadly.
Producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson have released a statement confirming Ford’s return and that Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve:
“We are honoured that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners. Hampton [Fancher] and Michael [Green], with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.”
How exactly Deckard will fit in, given the revelation in the first movie that he was a replicant (artificial person with a short life-span), is unknown but we’re certainly looking forward to finding out…
