Has DC/Warners found their Zatanna in Game of Thrones star?

July 28th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Some rumours on the Zatanna movie tonight, folks.

You may recall our report a few weeks back (here) that a Zatanna movie is in the planning stages at DC/Warners with it possibly being setup in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad and perhaps even leading into the HBO Max Justice League Dark, well tonight we have big (if true) news.

Word on the nerdvine is that Game of Thrones and Solo: A Star Wars Story star Emilia Clarke is the current frontrunner for the gig.

This would make sense as Clarke is a big name in our Nerdy circles given her Star Wars, Terminator and Game of Thrones connections and while all three of these had varying levels of success in the end, the blame never lay with her.

Personally, I like Clarke but I just don’t see her in the role of Zatanna Zatara, one of DC’s strongest magic users and the big love of John Constantine.

Reportedly there is concept art already made up for her in the role – of this is true, expect Bad Robot and HBO Max to max and announcement soon… perhaps in DC Fandome next month.

What say you all? Do you think she’d make a good Zatanna? Let me know your thoughts, gang…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
