We’re hearing that while the Birds of Prey are dead for now, DC has big plans for one of their other big female characters.
Word is that DC/Warners are developing a Zatanna standalone movie.
In the comics Zatanna is a powerful magic user, the daughter of another powerful magic user, Zatara.
She is also closely connected to John Constantine – who is played by Matt Ryan on The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and we have speculated before that Constantine is the glue holding DC’s multiverse together (here) – and the Justice League Dark – who are getting their own TV series over on HBO Max (here).
There has been numerous rumours before that Zatanna was set for the big screen with the most recent being that she was set to appear in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad next year (here).
Interestingly, DC Comics writer Gail Simone seemed to confirm the movie was in development when she was asked if it was true on Twitter and replied: “Yep.”
Alright Gail, calm down… don’t give us too much information, now!
