Has new Terminator movie got a director and favourites for roles of John and Sarah? Looks like…

For sometime now we’ve known a new Terminator movie was coming… and now it looks like we’re close to having a director and stars.

According to Aintitcool the two main characters in the movie are set to be Sarah and John Connor. According to the site, Schmoes Know and THR are reporting that Game Of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke and 21 Jump Steet  actress Brie Larson are the favourites for the role made famous by Linda Hamilton as the mother of the leader of the human resistance against the machines. In the sights for the role of John are TRON: Legacy actor Garrett Hedlund and star of every other movie Tom Hardy.

Now, on a personal note I like the idea of  Clarke as Sarah as her Game of Thrones character Daenerys Targaryen is both feminine and deadly and, without the blonde hair, she could be a contender. For John I’d like to see Hedlund instead of Hardy, frankly I think Hardy is attached to too many projects and, as a big TRON fan, I’d like to see what Hedlund could do with the role.

The man currently favourite for the director’s chair is Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor. Had you asked me two weeks ago I’d have said I’ve no idea, but this week I’d say absolutely… funny business showbusiness, huh?

By the ages of the actors being talked to it’s hard to say what direction this movie will go in… will John and Sarah be fighting together? Will it be a Star Trek-esque reboot? Who knows; but one thing is for sure… this is happening.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
