For almost 20 years director Terry Gilliam has been on a quest to make a movie of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
It’s been a Johnny Depp movie, it’s been a John Hurt movie, but what it never was was a movie that looked likely to appear on cinema screens.
Until now.
The Johnny Depp version was so close to happening and so scourged with problems that it was actually turned into a documentary called Lost in La Mancha and it served as a warning to anyone who planned on filming a movie that many considered to be unfilmable.
And, with Lost in LaMancha, we all figured that that was the end of Quixote’s adventure.
But we were wrong!
Gilliam took to Facebook (below) today and announced that the movie has finally finished filming with Adam Driver in the lead.
And that’s all we know.
Can the movie possibly live up to the expectations of film fans waiting all these years? Well, probably not… but we can’t wait to find out.
No release date yet, but it’s in the bag and that’s big news, indeed.
