Hmmmmmm… is Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker bringing back Han Solo?

So there’s no denying that one of the things that got the biggest reaction to the trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker at Star Wars Celebration a couple of weeks back was the return of Emperor Palpatine but a new report seems to be telling us that there’s going to be another major original trilogy character returning.

Yes, word on the street is that Harrison Ford has been on set and has filmed a scene as the one and only Han Solo in “a newly filmed moment with Adam Driver”.

Here’s the details of the report on the scene itself as gathered by the folk at Making Star Wars: The scene takes place between Han and his son, Ben (Kylo Ren) played by Adam Driver.

Apparently the scene will see Ren/Ben asking Darth Vader – likely speaking to Vader’s burned helmet from The Force Awakens – to show him the darkness.

In the vision he gets from Vader Luke Skywalker will appear as will Han who “tells Ben Solo it isn’t too late and the sequence has a tone of forgiveness and understanding to it”.

Solo will not be a Force ghost but rather part of the vision.

This makes a lot of sense to me as it seems likely that Kylo will be wrestling with his journey between the light and dark sides of the Force and while imploring Vader for strength, Luke intervenes and shows him his father who believed in him right up until the moment of his death.

It also, to me, seems likely this could be where we see the vision of Vader/Anakin caught in a constant turmoil between the dark and light and who may actually be trying to save Kylo too.

Anyway, it’s all speculation at this stage, but i’m filing this under ‘very possible’ with a healthy does of ‘I hope so’ smeared on top.

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
