Well this is big news for fans of what was the Star Wars Expanded Universe – now known as Legends.
Ron Howard, currently working on directing the Han Solo movie, has been tweeting as he films and now his latest Tweet has gotten a fair bit of attention. Why?
Well, because it confirms that Tag and Bink, the comedy duo created by writer Kevin Rubio and artist Lucas Marangon in the Dark Horse Comics books before Marvel took over, are now set for the Han Solo movie and are, more importantly, now officially part of the Star Wars canon.
When Howard tweeted the below image with the #TagAndBink attached many were unsure if it was true and Howard wasn’t having a little giggle at the fans’ expense, but when their creator, Rubio, replied to the tweet and Han Solo writer John Kasdan replied (also below) saying it was indeed the hapless duo and he and Toby Hefferman were playing it became official… the much loved duo are now officially out there in the Star Wars universe.
The characters are pretty much only comic relief in the comics and the fans would never have expected their inclusion as they pretty much existed only to weave in and out of big events in the Star Wars universe. Indeed, at one point in their comic hi-jinx the duo joined the Rebel Alliance and were captured by the Empire… to escape they dressed as Imperials; could this be what we’re seeing here?
Honestly we doubt we’ll see or hear them named in the movie but sometimes it’s enough to know they’re out there.
What say you all? Do you like their inclusion?

Thank You, Kevin. I’m a huge fan and I had to get ’em in there, and then had to play it myself (with Toby Hefferman) to do it justice
