How much control will Ben Affleck have on Justice League?

So we learned last week that Ben Affleck was promoted to Executive Producer on the Justice League movie (here), after the studio and public responding so well to his performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman V Superman.

But what the story behind the promotion?

Well, Affleck will assist screenwriter Chris Terrio in rewriting the movie. Now, despite many claiming this is DC/Warners’ way of writing Zack Snyder out, it seems that the reason is so Affleck’s and Geoff John’s Batman movie and Justice League will fit together better.

It seems Affleck will have a prominent role in the post filming stage ie in editing the final movie – we know that one of our (and many others’) main problems with Batman V Superman was the stunted editing, so this makes sense, given that Affleck’s work on The Town, Argo and Gone Girl have caused Warners to have a lot of faith in him.

Affleck will NOT be taking control from Snyder but rather will serve to aid the director, with whom he had a great working relationship on BvS but, as we said above, will rather be helping to tie the upcoming DCCU together better.

However, all that said, it seems Affleck still enraged with the response to BvS and could be looking to rectify things from this point on.

Births Movies Death have reported: “My sources have told me that Affleck was incredibly unhappy about the reception of BvS. He felt humiliated after spending so much of the press tour saying how much better this film would be than Daredevil. On top of that his agent was furious when Kevin Tsujihara jumped the gun and announced him as the director of The Batman – there were still negotiations happening.”

They are reporting that the transfer of more creative to Affleck is a way of keeping him happy while also (hopefully) doing what’s best for the DC movie universe.

We think it’s a good idea to move Affleck into a more prominent position, given his movie-making prowess and, just as important, his love and knowledge of the DC Comics Universe.

What do you guys think? In Affleck we trust?
