While we reported in March (here) that Hugh Jackman’s next solo outing as Wolverine would be his last time with the claws, sadly… and now the actor has talked about why he’s stepping away from the X-Men.

“This will be my last one,” the actor confirmed on the Dr Oz show, “It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”

Although there’s still some question over him appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, we’re pretty sure he will be in there before he films Wolverine 3.

Fair play to Jackman, he’s become one of cinema’s most iconic come characters and it’s hard not to love the guy… and Wolverine.

Now we have to wonder, will they recast or let the character go? And if they recast, who could fit the claws?

Sound off below folks…

The third Wolverine movie is due in 2017.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
