Indiana Jones will NOT be recast says producer Frank Marshall

So we reported a couple of weeks back that Steven Spielberg had said he planned on doing another Indiana Jones movie with Harrison Ford (yay!). And there was much rejoicing…

Firstly because it will end the ‘Chris Pratt for Indiana Jones’ rumours (don’t get us wrong, we love Pratt but he’s no Indy) and secondly because, well, Indy is coming back.

Now producer Frank Marshall has said that Indiana Jones will not go down the James Bond road, recasting as and when it needs to: “We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton… We’re not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… we have to figure this out.”

His phrasing is interesting here, however ‘call somebody else Indiana Jones’? Could the Jones story continues without Indy? Will Mutt be back? Is there another Jones out there somewhere we don’t know about?

Whatever happens it sounds like Harrison Ford is, and always will be, Indiana Jones and, as much as we’d love to see more Indy adventures for years to come, that just feels right to us.

Are we wrong? Let us know…

Apologies readers, an earlier version of this story had Frank Darabont’s name in the headline. It was a mistake on my behalf and apologies if it confused anyone. All work and no sleep makes Marc a dull boy…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
