While everyone loves Robert Downey Jnr as Tony Stark/Iron Man – and we’re pretty sure he loves playing the role – it looks like you shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for another solo outing.
Speaking to USA Today for a Captain America: Civil War set visit, the actor said it’s unlikely it’ll happen: “I don’t think that’s in the cards,” he said.
The actor reiterated that, while Civil War IS a Cap movie, it’s also a big thing for Iron Man and feels like part of that character’s catalogue of movies: “In a way it’s Cap 3 but for me it’s like my little Iron Man 4,” Downey said.
“And then it’s back to the thing we all recognize. Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that’s how it is until it changes. If it changes.”
While we are disappointed that Iron Man 4 isn’t looking likely – at least not anytime soon – we don’t expect Downey Jnr to be hanging up the Iron Mask anytime soon. He is, after all, part of a bigger team…
