Is Ben Affleck really out as Batman? Addressing those new actor rumours.

November 19th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Ok, so we know by now that Justice League has been getting the predicted hot and cold reviews (heck we even put up a negative and a positive review as we have mixed feelings ourselves), but on top of all this the rumour is that Ben Affleck does indeed want out of the franchise and that Batman solo movie director Matt Reeves already wants to replace him too.

So what’s the deal?

Well, we’re living in a world of speculation and rumour. Surprise, surprise.

So here’s what we can gleam.

Apparently Matt Reeves HAS already been chatting to actors to replace Affleck – ACTORS – and one of those actors is Jake Gyllenhaal (continues after pic)

For the record, we can certainly see him in the role and there is a certain resemblance to Affleck and Gyllenhaal has proved that he can bulk up when roles call for it, so we’d imagine he’s definitely a possible future fans – interestingly the actor was previously shortlisted for Batman when Christian Bale played him:

So, while all this is happening, it still doesn’t confirm anything… although we have to say we’ve reluctantly had to admit that it looks like Affleck is done with the role and after the Flashpoint movie we expect he’ll no longer wear a cape and ears.

Interestingly, we’ve been watching Twitter and the outstanding fan choice we’ve seen so far is Madmen and Baby Driver star, John Hamm:

Again, as far as we know, there’s nothing to this one… but we would put our support behind him too.

So, what do you all think? If Affeck DOES go, who would you like to see in the role? Let us know.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
