Is the MCU set for its first big screen Muslim hero?

It looks like a Marvel-ous new hero is set for the MCU as a new film is ‘in the works’.

Speaking to the BBC, Marvel chief Kevin Feige explained that we may be getting close to our first onscreen Muslim hero in the MCU in the form of Ms Marvel (not to be confused with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel).

Ms. Marvel… is definitely sort of in the works,” said Feige, “[she is] another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel”.

“We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world,” he added.

Ms Marvel is actually Kamala Khan in the comics, a Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey and current favourite among fans to play her is actress Priyanka Chopra (below) who voices the character in mobile video game Marvel: Avengers Academy.

However, many fans are also saying the character should be played by a Pakistani-American rather than Indian.

Whatever happens, it looks like the character is set for an appearance on the big screen in the (not to distant) future.

What say you all?
