Is there a Batgirl and Supergirl movie in the works?

We’ve known for a while now that Leslie Grace will be playing Batgirl/Barbara Gordon in the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl movie and we know that JK Simmons will be back as James Gordon (here), returning from his time in the role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, meaning the movie is firmly set in the DCEU main universe… but we don’t know much more than that.

But now, we may have a fun bit of news to come after the Batgirl movie but still involving Batgirl.

The movie, directed by Bad Boys For Life’s Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and written by Bumblebee’s Christina Hodson, was a while ago looking to cast a villain who was, according to reports, a “disgruntled former firefighter”, leading us and others to think it was going to be Garfield Lynns AKA Firefly.

Yes, word is that a Batgirl and Supergirl movie, starring Grace and The Flash’s Supergirl, Sasha Calle is in development at HBO Max.

Now, we hope this isn’t just a rehash of Batman V Superman with the ladies in front and rather would love to see the two team up against a threat together.

There is infinite possibilities here and we just hope that, as many fear, The Flash and projects like this aren’t part of a big DC recon that will see the end of Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman.

The DC universe is massive and we don’t need to see Affleck and Cavill constantly in the background or foreground – it’s enough to just know that they are in the universe and all these other characters are off having their own adventures.

What say you all? Would you watch a Supergirl and Batgirl movie? With the Black Canary and Huntress shows in development and the rumoured Gotham City Sirens (here), it’s definitely a great time to be a woman in the DCEU.

Thoughts?
