James Gunn, the man behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 (and Slither) has been on Facebook (below) talking to the fans about the second movie due to it being released this week on the US home market.
And he’s been chatting about the MCU in general, not just his little corner of it.
You may recall that the Nova Corps appeared in the first movie and now Gunn is teasing that a Nova movie is a big possibility at some point in the MCU’s future.
But who? Well, Gunn says it has to be the real Nova, Richard Rider.
Rider, according to Wikipedia,“appeared historically as the star of his own series, and at other times, as a supporting character in team books such as The New Warriors. He is a member of the intergalactic police force known as the Nova Corps, for which he gained superhuman abilities including enhanced strength, flight and resistance to injury.”
He is considered by many fans as the original and best take on Nova although he was recently replaced, to mixed feelings, by Sam Alexander.
Gunn has in the past said Nova will likely appear in the MCU as a proper character but not anytime soon: “I don’t want Nova right now because I think Quill being the only earthling is important. That serves the entire movie going audience and not just the handful of Nova fans… I have nothing against Nova in future movies, but it doesn’t serve the movie right this moment.”
So, don’t hold your breath but Nova is certainly on the Marvel planned timeline somewhere…
