James Wan is producing a remake of horror-comedy classic, Arachnophobia

June 11th, 2018 by Marc Comments

Here we go again… conflicted over a remake of a classic.

This time produced by Aquaman and The Conjuring director James Wan, Arachnophobia will be bright up-to-date for modern cinema audiences who, let’s be honest, should really just go and track down the original. Which I watched recently and is still a bona fide classic of comedy and horror.

The 1990 original starred Jeff Daniels, Julian Sands and John Goodman as they tried to save a town infested with an outbreak of  hybrid South American deadly spiders. It was directed by Frank Marshall and to this day, if you’re not great with spiders they will do the trick, while also having you chuckling along nicely too.

Wan isn’t directing this new version but his company Atomic Monster will be overseeing it.

We just can’t see this capturing the the magic of the original which, for me, was up there with The Goonies and Gremlins.

Anyway, what a tangled web we weave, huh?

Excited, apprehensive, confused about what Arachnophobia is? Let us know below…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
