Jessie Eisenberg thinks his time playing Lex Luthor is over

October 18th, 2019 by Marc Comments

It looks like, as we all suspected, Jesse Eisenberg’s time as the DCEU’s Lex Luthor may be up.

At least as far as the actor knows.

The star played Luthor in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and then again briefly in Justice League and, although much maligned, he was one of my favourite things in the movies, well, in BvS anyway.

His Lex is manipulative, clever and very, very dangerous and Eisenberg brought an unhinged brilliance to the role that no-one else has so far.

But the knives were out and he, ultimately, was as misunderstood in the role as he played. C’est la vie.

Anyway, the actor is currently doing the press tour for Zombieland 2: Doubletap and was asked if he’s returning as Lex and he said he feels the next time he sees Lex will “be, like, in my living room, you know”.

In other words, he’s going to be watching Lex on the big screen like everyone else as it won’t be him playing the role. Although he does make it clear that if he were asked, he would love to get into it again, especially as the second time he appeared – in Justice League – he felt he was closer to what Lex was to become in the movies.

You can watch the whole interview below but I for one, will miss his take on Superman’s main foe.

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
