You may recall at the start of this month that I reported that the totally awesome JK Simmons was a little hesitant about confirming if we’d be seeing him return in the MCU as the best bit of casting of all time, J Jonah Jameson.
At the time he confirmed he was contracted for more performances but it depended on the story and that “I don’t know if I would use the word ‘expect’ [me to return]”.
Now, however, he’s a bit more chatty about it on SiriuXM’s The Jess Cagle Show and not only that, but he revealed that there was another appearance already filmed and waiting to be seen by the world.
Now we all know that his Jameson made a massive impression in Sam Raimi’s Spider-man trilogy and when he briefly appeared in last year’s Spider-man: Far From Home, the fandom was, well, let’s just say, very happy.

So more JK as JJ is something worth getting excited for.
“Well yeah, [I’ll be back as J Jonah Jameson] that’s the short answer,” the star says.
“There is a future for J Jonah Jameson after a several-year hiatus. He showed up very briefly for those who were wise enough to stay through the credits of [Spider-man] Far from Home.”
He then adds: “There is one more JJJ appearance in the can, and from what I’m hearing there’s a plan for yet another. So hopefully JJJ will continue now and forever.”
Firstly, JJJ forever sounds wonderful, secondly, where will we see Jameson pop up again?
Well, there’s lots of possibilities in the MCU; he could be in Black Widow, The Eternals or Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as they are all, despite that damned virus, at various stages of filming.
He could also be in Disney+ shows The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision or Loki, again all at various stages of filming, but none of these movies or shows are likely to feature Spider-man and J Jonah Jameson and Spider-man go together like a horse and carriage.
No, my money is he’s in one of Sony’s upcoming Spider-man related movies. We know that Morbius and Venom 2 are both pretty much finished and we also know that J Jonah’s son, John Jonah Jameson III, was in the first Venom movie and he died pretty early on and in the comics – Google it – Jameson believed Spider-man was responsible for the death of his son, so my guess is we’ll see this at least hinted at in the Venom sequel, with Jameson being present in the movie.
It will also possibly explain just why he hates Spider-man so much in Far From Home.
Anyway, that’s just my thoughts on it. What are yours?
