JK Simmons knows all the secrets of Ghostbusters 3 and is on for a return to J Jonah Jameson and Commissioner Gordon roles

So, in case you weren’t already aware, JK Simmons is a goddamned legend.

The actor just delivers solid gold every time he steps on screen and we love to see him in anything… but there’s a franchise we’d love to see him in and two we’d love to see him return to.

The actor spoke to EW (below) recently and during the interview he revealed that Jason Reitman has shared all the news about his upcoming Ghostbusters movie with him which has us wondering… might he be in it?!

On top of that, the actor has nothing but good things to say about his time as J Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-man movies and his all-too-brief spell as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League, revealing that in regards to both franchises – but obviously Justice League in particular – he hopes that he’s not done in the role.

Here’s what he said about three of our favourite franchises:

GHOSTBUSTERS:

“[The Jason Reitman is doing a new movie] is hilarious, of course, and brilliant. Now I can talk about it,” Simmons said.

“I can’t wait. I can’t wait to see what he’s gonna do with it,” before adding, “I can tell you absolutely nothing. I know everything but I’m just not telling you.”

JUSTICE LEAGUE:

“I know that I signed up to do three movies, potentially,” he said.

“And I hope there are gonna be two more. It has been in and around and through, whether it be (The) Batman or Justice League or another Suicide Squad, or where Commissioner Gordon might end up appearing again, I’m open to it.”

Of course he’s a busy actor so he’s not depending on it, but he is keen to return: “I’m not sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring in the meantime, but I hope there’s more of that in the future.

“If the Batphone rings, I’m there [but] as far as I know, there’s no opportunity in the immediate future for me to do more Commissioner Gordon, but I continue to be optimistic that it will happen again.”

J JONAH JAMESON:

“I never say never. I mean, you know, obviously I had an amazing time with Sam Raimi on those movies, and Tobey [Maguire] and everybody.

That was a great great time, and huge for my career and my life, and just pure fun. If there were an opportunity to revisit that…. I don’t know, though… how old is Spider-Man going to be if J Jonah Jameson is this old?”

We don’t care how old Simmons is, we’d have him play J Jonah Jameson and Commissioner Gordon again in a heartbeat… and we’d welcome into the Ghostbusters fold with open arms in any role he decided to bless us with.

What say you all?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
