The Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo are moving ahead with their plans with Sony’s new production company (on top of being the men looking after Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and possibly the Spider-man reboot).

The production company has been named Getaway Productions and they have hired Chernin Entertainment’s Mike Larocca as president; he has overseen many comedy and sci-fi projects including Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Oblivion and the upcoming Paul Feig/Melissa McCarthy action comedy Spy

“The goal of the company,” Joe Russo tells THR, “is to bring to Sony high-concept material that focuses on storytelling and character and execute it with the right directors.”

“Mike shares our aesthetic and work ethic,” added Anthony, “he’s driven by the same principles as we are: storytelling, narrative and looking to bring big ideas to an audience with a level of sophistication.”

Larocca starts on April 1st, the day Getaway officially opens its doors and his first project? Ghostbusters…

He said: “They have a huge bandwidth and we’ll be focused on movies and ideas that have the potential to become franchise opportunities. I can’t wait to get started.”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
