Netflix are making a movie about the creation of National Lampoon called A Futile and Stupid Game and the casting is shaping up to be a lot of fun.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Domhnall Gleeson will star as National Lampoon co-founder Henry Beard but even more exciting, Community star Joel McHale will star as the young Chevy Chase – who also starred in Community, fact fans!

This could be a great project, although, as much as we love McHale, we just can’t seen him as Chase because Chase is a total original. That said, McHale should have some interesting insights given that he worked with Chase on Community for over five years.

What do you guys reckon?

A Futile and Stupid Gesture will tell the tragic story of National Lampoon co-founder Douglas Kenney (Will Forte), who produced and co-wrote Chaddyshack, an early hit for his close friend Chase, before his death under mysterious circumstances in 1980.

Production on A Futile and Stupid Gesture is set to get underway this month, with David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer) directing.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
