John Wick’s Chad Stahelski and David Leitch back for The Matrix 4

May 3rd, 2020 by Marc Comments

Awesome news for Matrix fans as it’s confirmed that an important part of the original trilogy team is returning for the new movie.

Before they became famous for making Keanu Reeves’ John Wick the most bad-ass movie hero of all-time, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch were stunt performers on the original Matrix trilogy and now they’re going to be involved in the “creative concept of some of the choreography” of the new movie as Lana Wachowski films her own scenes.

“I think if you’re a fan of the original [Matrix] trilogy you’re gonna love this. Coming back with a vengeance,” said Stahelski.

“It’s more about the creative concept of some of the choreography and backing them up with stuff. Other than the Matrixes, most of their stuff…what makes [Lana] so great is she directs her own action. We’ve had second unit directors on some of the Matrixes just because of the logistics involved. But of late, and especially on Matrix 4, she’s directing her own action. The second units for them are mostly establishing shots, the B-sides of the some of the compositions for some locations. But Lana, she does her own action. She weaves it into the main unit stuff, which is why their stuff looks so good.”

“They asked us to help out with the choreography and some of the physical training for the guys,” he continued. “I’m helping out a little bit for a sequence, I think Dave’s helping out for a sequence.”

Just having these two involved should be a comfort to fans of the franchise and fans of John Wick because, well, it doesn’t get any better than these two.

Are you excited for the return of Neo and the gang? I know I am, but I want to hear your thoughts…

The Matrix 4 is set for release on May 21st, 2021.
