Joker sequel gets release date, confirms Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and gives us a first look at the iconic duo

August 5th, 2022 by Marc Comments

We learned back in June that a Joker Sequel was coming with Joaquin Phoenix likely to return and, days later we learned that Lady Gaga was in talks to play Joker’s sometime love interest and partner in crime, Harleen Qunizel AKA Harley Quinn.

And now we can confirm that both stars will be appearing as Joker and Harley and we have our first look at them… kinda.

The sequel is called Folie à Deux, which means a ‘rare delusional disorder shared by 2 or more people with close emotional ties’, and now we know for sure who will be sharing the delusion.

On top of this, we also know it will hit screens in time for Halloween 2024, releasing on October 4th.

And as for the first look, the teaser released (bottom) gave us this image:

The image is a silhouette of Joker and Harley and while Joker looks similar to how he appeared in the first movie, Harley has our attention as we can draw a few things from the image.

The fact that she has a very specific shape suggests to us that this Harley’s look is already settled on and that seems Harley will have her hair tied up in a bun – my wife thinks it might be two buns or a ‘victory roll’ which might be the type favoured by matrons or nurses, think Lousie Fletcher’s amazing performance/look as Nurse Ratched, right, in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest… think Nurse Rartchett which could tie into Harley’s comic origins as a psychiatrist caring for Joker – and will be wearing a tiered dress, possibly a ballgown?

But what really has our attention is the heart-shaped tattoo/face paint on her left cheek which reminds us of the heart on Margot Robbie’s Harley’s cheek – although Robbie has it on her right cheek (left).

Anyways, Joker was a mind-blowing movie and with this movie – touted as a musical which takes place primarily in Arkham Asylum – we’re wondering if the Dark DC universe is about to explode alongside the DCEU.

Thoughts? You know I want to hear them.
