Joseph Kosinski talks third TRON movie

April 1st, 2013 by Marc Comments

TRON is a weird thing.

How so, I hear you ask? Well may you ask. For me, personally, the first TRON movie dwells safely in nostalgia but is actually pretty naff. The sequel, TRON: LEGACY is pretty good and has an awesome soundtrack. However, for me, it all changed when the animated series TRON: UPRISING hit and I was blown away and truly fell in love with the TRON universe.

So i’m surprisingly excited to hear that it looks like the third movie is indeed going to happen.

Once again from Wondercon, news has hit that filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, promoting his new movie Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise, got chatting about the third TRON movie.

According to Darkhorizons, Kosinski says:

“I’m really excited about the idea that we have for it. I think it delivers on the promise that both TRON movies have made. It opens the movie up, in a way that I think is going to give it a much broader appeal.

“Whereas TRON really, ultimately, in the end, catered most to TRON fans, this idea broadens it some more, in really exciting ways. But, it’s all about the script and making sure that that story is compelling enough to get all of us back together.

“Those movies are hard to make. It’s a two-and-a-half to three-year journey. So, to go back in there and go back to the Grid, it’s going to have to be a pretty spectacular script. We’ve got a great writer on it, so we’ll see.”

So, what do you guys reckon? Excited for another TRON movie or is it just us?

In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot.
